Principal / Executive Leadership Team
Dear Parents, Carers, Staff, Students and Friends,
Welcome to our Week Two Newsletter.
Parent Social Event
Thank you to everyone who came along to last week’s social event at the Rowing Club. It turned out to be a great night in a very relaxed atmosphere and it was really good to see everyone catching up. A big thanks to the following people for their hard work and volunteering to ensure a successful community event - Katie McCoy, Erinne Bate, Francesca Scullino and Melissa Njegovan. We would also like to acknowledge Sally Hederics from Love Jar for going above and beyond in supplying beautiful flowers and Sandra Bates - The Italian and Brad Fyfe - Solunar for their wonderful catering.
The volunteers appreciate the input and insightful comments from parents. These great suggestions will be utilised for our planning of another parent function in term one in 2023.
Staffing Update
We officially welcome Mrs Jaimi Willersdorf onto the staff team this week, where she will begin fulltime in Kyema. This week will be a transition period with Mrs Taylor working alongside Mrs Willersdorf.

Staff Big Freeze
The Staff Big Freeze is being held this Friday on the oval at 12.30pm. We hope to see lots of staff members putting their hands up to be dumped with ice cold water. Students can purchase tickets via CDF Pay ($1 per ticket) and go in the draw to win the opportunity to tip water on a teacher of their choice. Each teacher will have three students who will help to tip the water!
Collingwood Jumper
As part of our Mission fundraising we have a Collingwood jumper signed by the complete 2022 AFL playing list. The jumper comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. It has been kindly donated by the Collingwood Football Club and we thank Josh Carmichael for supplying it to the school. We will be holding a silent auction that will close at 12pm on Friday 21st October. If you want to bid please call in at the Office. The current bid is at $700.
Slime Colour Run
Last Term there was a document sent home explaining that we are having a Slime Spectacular Colour Run to conclude our Mission Month. As part of this fundraiser we are asking students to collect sponsorships that will go towards Mission Month. Students are rewarded with prizes for the money they raise. This whole process can be completed online using the link below.

Learning and Teaching News
Term Overviews
Please find attached the Term Overview for each year level. This will provide you with the key learning concepts which will be covered this term.
Learning Walks
Last week we welcomed back Education Consultant, Tony Dalton to Sacred Heart. Tony worked with Specialist, Middle and Senior Unit teachers demonstrating the importance of Learning Walks as a means of learning with and from each other. This was a wonderful opportunity for staff to observe what is happening in other classrooms, reflect on their own goals and engage in collaborative discussion. Teachers are constantly reflecting on their practice in order to improve the learning opportunities for their students and the areas of improvement they identified are being implemented in their classes already.

Last term, Junior Unit Students discussed the importance of being called to ‘be the hands of God’. Students used their time to care for our environment and others by cleaning up our school grounds, assisting those in need as well as making chocolate balls and planting flowers which were donated to the Shared Table. Funds raised from this will support Father Mick’s mission in Peru. These Chocolate balls and flowers were greatly appreciated by Sister Helen who expressed her sincere thanks to our students. ‘God’s Creation is wonderful and you have been an important part of it’. ‘Many blessings for sharing your work’.- Sister Helen
