ISSUE 30: September 16th, 2022
Principal / Executive Leadership Team
Dear Parents, Carers, Staff, Students and Friends,
Welcome to our final newsletter for Term Three. We have managed to get to the end with minimal interruptions considering the last few years.
Mission Mass
Our whole school Mission Mass is being held on Thursday 6th October at the church beginning at 9.30am. Parents are invited to join us for this celebration.
Mission Month
October, as always, is ‘Mission Month’ and we have many exciting and fun activities planned. We will begin with Mission Mass on Thursday, 6th October at 9:30am and all are welcome to join us. This will be followed by our first fundraising event on Friday, a Casual Clothes day for a gold coin donation (footy jumper auction). Throughout the month our students will participate in numerous whole school, unit and class events. Detailed information about these can be found in the Mission Month calendar below. We look forward to and appreciate your support during this time when we concentrate on bringing our faith to life through a deliberate focus on those in need. All money raised will once again go to support Fr Michael McKinnon, our former parish priest in his overseas missionary work.
P&F Social Event
On the evening of Friday 7th October from 6:30pm-11:30pm we are planning to hold a parent social evening at the Mildura Rowing Club with supper and line music included. The cost of the event is $25 per person and should be a great way for families to meet other people and to have some fun together. This event is not a fundraising event. Nibbles will be provided by Solunar and The Italian and drinks will be at bar prices. Tickets are limited to 120 people so please book your ticket ASAP.

Thank you to everyone who has paid their school fees. Reminder to the families who opted for payment by term or year that these accounts MUST be paid in full by the end of this term unless other arrangements have been made. As always, if you are experiencing any difficulty in making your fee payment please contact us to make an arrangement.
Congratulations
I extend congratulations to Mr Ryan O’Callaghan who has completed his two year leadership training as part of the “Pathways to School Leadership – Leading with Impact” program facilitated by Dr Stephen Brown. It is great that Ryan has taken on this big commitment to further develop his leadership capacity within a Catholic school.
Catholic Education Commission of Victoria (CECV) State Election Message
Please see below a letter from CECV regarding their commitment to our Catholic schools and the support they are seeking from the state government with the upcoming election. Please take the time to read it.
Finalising school numbers
It is at this time of year that we begin to forecast how many students will be attending our school in 2023. These forecasts are very important as it tells us how many classes will be required for 2023. This of course impacts on how many teachers we need and how many classrooms we need. Subsequently, I ask that all parents advise me if children will be leaving Sacred Heart at the end of this year. Thank you.
Condolences
Our deepest sympathies and heart felt condolences go out to Harlequinn Hendy and her family on the passing of her Grandfather, we will keep them in our prayers.
Return to School Term Four
Well done to the students, staff and parents for their wonderful efforts throughout the term. We look forward to everyone returning for Term Four on Monday, 3rd October refreshed and ready for a big Term Four.
I hope everyone has a very relaxing and enjoyable break after a very busy term.

This term in the library we have had lots of learning! All students from Year 1 through to Year 6 are now familiar with the Non Fiction section of the library, with Senior students completing some amazing Passion Projects, Middle Unit beginning to work on a powerpoint of a topic of their choice and the Juniors discovering what sorts of information books are available in our library. Our prep students have been enjoying and responding to many different books, as well as learning how to use Book Creator. Next term, we continue Book Creator with the Preps, the Juniors will consolidate their learning on NonFiction and learn about reviewing books, the Middle Unit will continue their power points as well as study different book characters; and the Seniors will work on a special project for their buddies.
All students in Years 3-6 will continue to need their devices during library days next term. Please remind students in Year 4-6 to charge their devices and bring them to school.
