ISSUE 4: 12th March 2021
Principal / Executive Leadership Team
Welcome to our update for next week.
This Wednesday is St Patrick’s Day. Students can wear casual clothes on this day and are encouraged to wear something green. Many classes across the school will be doing activities related to this special day.
On Wednesday from 3:45-5pm we have Lilly Pointon an Occupational Therapist from Lime Therapy working with staff around sensory processing, what sensory breaks are and how they look in the classroom. For any parents who may be interested in attending you are most welcome to join us. The meeting will be held in the staffroom.
On Thursday we have our external School Auditor’s visit and they will work with Mary Avery while they audit our 2020 financial year.
Good luck to Grace Brown, Liana McClaer & Evie Smythe who will participate in the Region Swimming, which will be held in Swan Hill on Thursday.
We have our first School Advisory Council (SAC) meeting occurring on Monday from 5pm. We did have a combined SAC and Parents and Friends (P&F) meeting arranged for next Wednesday, however that will now be moved to a different date that will be confirmed next week.
Parents, children and family members are invited to attend St Joseph’s College 2021 Open Day next Tuesday, from 4pm to 7pm. This will occur at both the Enright and Mercy campuses. Parents are asked to report to reception on arrival.
We have Myalla participating in this Wednesday’s Parish Mass at the church. Students will do some of the readings and jobs throughout the Mass. This celebration will begin at 9.30am and parents are welcome to attend.
Thank you to Karinya for hosting today’s Assembly. Narooma is hosting next week’s Assembly, which will begin at 2.30pm in the Stadium on Friday.
Program Support Group (PSG) Meetings have been held yesterday and today. PSG’s brings together key stakeholders who have relevant knowledge of, and responsibility for, a student. Through the meetings the participants in the meetings plan and review implementation of inclusive educational practices for students who may have academic, social, emotional, behavioural, cultural, health and/or wellbeing needs. We would like to thank the parents who have attended these meetings and to Mrs Deacon who has facilitated them. Our last day of meetings will be held next Tuesday.
On Friday 26th March we have a Pupil Free Day with staff involved in Professional Development. This PD will provide support to teachers to improve writing skills and achievement and increasing reciprocity between reading and writing. We will aim to have a more consistent approach across the school in teaching writing, improve learning outcomes and improve teacher capability in this area. This was identified as a need within our School Improvement Plan 2021-2025. Camp Australia will be operating on this day.
It has been great all classes now have parents who have volunteered to be class contacts for our classrooms in 2021. Thank you to Rebecca Siale for co-ordinating this. If any class contacts have any queries please
As most would be aware our administration team at Sacred Heart is Mrs Mary Avery (Business Manager), Mrs Sarah Beggs & Mrs Candy Fleming. Student Leadership Groups
Student Representative Council (SRC)
Our student leaders have been busy this term with duties such as helping facilitate parts of our school assembly, changing the notices on our notice board out the front of the school, selling icy poles each Tuesday and Thursday during lunch, helping organise class groups during our school photo day and generally being fantastic role models for the rest of the student body. Well done so far guys!
Play Leaders
Our PLAY (Positivity, Leadership and Active Youth) leaders were busy organising games for lunchtime activities last week and executed some very engaging games on Wednesday of this week for any students who wished to join in. They will continue to plan for and provide various games each Wednesday until the end of Term One. PLAY creates and strengthens healthier relationships, and in this respect is a great pro-active, inclusion for all program. PLAY works by directly involving students in creative student-led play at school.
