ISSUE 33: 12th November, 2021
Principal / Executive Leadership Team
Dear Sacred Heart families,
Welcome to the weekly update.
2022 Prep Transition
2022 Preps and Year Five Buddies will come together, along with their parents on Wednesday evening for a meet & greet. This get together is being held at school in the courtyard area from 5pm to 6pm. A sausage in bread will be provided for all families.
Our new 2022 Prep students had their first transition day last Monday and settled in brilliantly. Their next session at school will occur on Wednesday 24th November from 8:45am-1:30pm. Staff from school are currently visiting students in their Kindergarten setting. Our Prep 2022 Transition Program is attached below:
Year Two Sleepover
Last night we had the Year Two Sleepover and today the students have had the chance to enjoy offsite activities. Thank you to the junior team for coordinating this; particularly to those teachers who gave up their time to sleep at school. I am sure the students will sleep very well tonight.
Ballarat School Camp
Our permission form for Ballarat Camp has become available via PAM. If your child will be attending camp please complete this Parent Consent by Friday 19th November. If you have concerns about your child attending camp please don’t hesitate to contact myself or your child’s teacher.
Remembrance Day
Thank you to our School Captains and the fellow students who proudly represented the school at the Mildura Remembrance Day Service on Thursday. The rest of the school had a short service at school and the students showed great reverence during this occasion.
Year 4/5 Leadership Day & 2022 House Captains
Our Year 4/5 students have had a great day participating in the Student Leadership Development sessions. These sessions were run virtually by Unleashing Human Potential. Nominations will be taken from Year Five students for 2022 House Captains on Monday. On Friday morning all Houses will meet for House Captain speeches and voting at 9am. Good luck to all students!
Year 6 Swim and Survive
The Year Six Swim & Survive continues from Tuesday to Friday. Narooma will attend from 1.30-2.15pm each day and Dourim will attend from 2.15-3pm. If for any reason your child will not be swimming (a note explaining the reason/s why will need to be given to your child’s teacher); they will remain at school as per pool restrictions. The students will be bussed to the Waves each day. They can wear their PE/Sports uniform each day and will need to pack their bathers/swimwear/rashie, towel, goggles, thongs to wear whilst at the pool, a swim or plastic bag to place all wet items in. Please ensure that all items are named.
Mission Fundraisers
Thanks and well done to all students and staff for your Missions fundraising efforts over the last few weeks. There has been a lot of money raised and importantly, lots of fun was had by our school community. We will continue to sell Icy Poles for the next few weeks on Tuesdays & Thursdays.
Year 1 Stayback
Year One Stayback is being held on Thursday with offsite activities throughout the day and activities at school from 3.10pm onwards. Mrs Groves, Mrs Carmichael, Mrs Irvin and Mrs Collins will coordinate and supervise throughout the Stayback.
Assembly
Thank you, Barramunga for hosting your first assembly since beginning your schooling at Sacred Heart.
We look forward to our School Choir presenting at assembly next week. Parents of School Choir students and those who are receiving awards will receive an invitation to the Assembly. All visitors to school grounds must comply with vaccination requirements, density limits, face mask requirements, QR code check-ins and practise respiratory etiquette and good hand hygiene.
Have a great week everyone and God Bless!

Reflection
God of hopeful signs and careful plans: as our initial panic subsides
and the itch to get back to normal replaces a fear of spiking fevers,
keep us wary and alert.
May we carry a parcel of humility to remind us we are human.
We are still not immune to the dangers of overconfidence and impatience.
We are just as susceptible now to
the invisible sway of hubris,
and the make-believe of thinking that we’ve done all we can do. May your enduring presence provide the stamina we lack so our confidence can increase with grounded joy.
Amen.

Student Leadership News
Thank you to the SLT for their planning, setting up and manning of stations around the obstacle course for the Colour Run last Friday. The smiles on the students’ and teachers’ faces showed how much they loved participating in the event.
