ISSUE 17: 25th June 2021
Principal / Executive Leadership Team
Dear Parents, Guardians, Students & Staff
Lord Jesus Christ, light of this world, thank you for the hope you have given us.
Help us to give our worries to you and, above all, to trust in your unfailing love.
For you have promised us “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.”
God, our protector, let us trust in you to carry us through this time of uncertainty.
Whatever tomorrow may bring, we will praise your name.
Amen.
Students and staff have had a fantastic day today celebrating the Feast of the Sacred Heart. A big thank you to all families for your generous donations to support those in need within our community. Here is a message from Sister Patricia Fitzgibbons - "Many thanks Sacred Heart for the wonderful donations that we received for the Sunraysia Regional Assistance Centre, St Vincent de Paul Society, at the very moving Mass this morning. I was very impressed with all the work that had obviously gone into celebrating your School's Feast day." Thanks to our canteen staff and parent helpers for setting up for lunch and to the Knights of the Soutern Cross for cooking hamburgers. Students enjoyed Family Group Activities throughout the day and our Year Six students took on the staff at lunch time in games of Rugby and Netball. A great way to finish the term. Well done to all!

Learning Diversity & Wellbeing News
At SHPS we make adjustments to support the needs of our students. Students who have a Personalised Learning Plan (PLP) are supported with adjustments specific to their imputed (assign, attribute) or diagnosed learning disability. Our teachers and school teams use their professional judgement, based on evidence, to determine the level of adjustment each student is currently being provided with. There are the four levels of adjustments referred to in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD).
In the NCCD, the four levels of adjustment are: support provided within quality differentiated teaching practice (QDTP), supplementary adjustments, substantial adjustments, and extensive adjustments.
QDTP - Students are supported through active monitoring and adjustments that are not greater than those used to meet the needs of diverse learners. These adjustments are provided through usual school processes, without drawing on additional resources.
Supplementary - Students are provided with adjustments that are supplementary to the strategies and resources already available for all students within the school. Adjustments occur for particular activities at specific times throughout the week.
Substantial - Students who have more substantial support needs are provided with essential adjustments and considerable adult assistance. Adjustments to the usual educational program occur at most times on most days.
Extensive - Students with disability and very high support needs are provided with extensive targeted measures and sustained levels of intensive support. These adjustments are highly individualised, comprehensive and ongoing. Adjustments to the regular educational program occur at all times.

Canteen News
Please be advised that you can no longer cancel lunch orders online. This has come about due to parents running a continuous credit and not using this up on the next lunch order placed.
If you require to cancel an order, please phone the office (50231204) during school hours. Your label will be given to the canteen and you may use this order on another day, by phoning the school and placing that order. This will only be valid for one month.
If when logging onto your account you see that you have a credit, please use the credit and not pay with a Credit Card. All current credits will be valid until the end of this Term (25th June). If unused they will be not valid after that date.
To use a credit on your account you order your child’s lunch as normal. Once you have submitted your order, the option to use the credit on your account will come up in the payment section. Please be aware you cannot use Bank Transfer, only Credit Card to pay any balance owing after the credit has been used.

Farewell Miss Niutta
Below are some reflections from a few students from Myalla about their teacher Miss Niutta.
Miss Niutta has been an amazing teacher for this semester. She has helped me a lot with all the subjects we have been learning and has taught me so much since the start of the year. One thing I enjoyed about Miss Niutta is the way she teaches because she always explains things so that I can understand what she’s talking about. Another thing I enjoy about Miss Niutta is her generosity. She is always kind and always speaks in a friendly manner. I'm sad that Miss Niutta is going because I have had such a good semester while she has been my teacher. Thanks for all the support not just to me but to all of Myalla we will miss you and goodluck with the baby.

The students in Myalla are experiencing a sad and exciting time as Miss Niutta is leaving this term to go on maternity leave, to have a gorgeous little baby.
We are so sad to see you leave but we know you will be back. I would like to say thanks for this semester, you have taught us so much! I would especially like to thank you for your help with division algorithms which I now find easy and my creative writing.
We wish you all the best at this special time and thanks again for the wonderful semester we spent together.

Miss Nuitta is an amazing teacher to have. She has made Myalla a really fun class to be a part of for semester 1. Myalla will miss Miss Nuitta when she leaves. Thank you for teaching us this semester and on behalf of Myalla we wish you all the best.

Library News
HOLIDAY READING:
Make time these holidays for reading! Enjoy the time with your family, and curl up with a great book or two! Research says that just 15 mins a day of reading can make a positive impact on your child’s learning.
Most children have borrowed a few extra books from the library for over the holidays. Please ensure these are returned early next term. Perhaps make sure the children keep them in library books when not reading!
Our library also has access to nearly 2000 eBooks, which can be ‘borrowed’ by students to download and read on any device. Students in Year 3-6 will be able to log in to our school library via the ‘Orbit’ or ‘Oliver’ links on the student homepage.
To access eBooks, students will need to click on the ‘Sora’ link below to take you to a website.
Alternatively, the Sora app is available on Google Play and the App store and can be downloaded to smartphones and tablets.
Follow these steps:
- Click or copy and paste the following URL https://soraapp.com/welcome
- Select the SET UP CODE: nswprimaryau.
- Scroll to find Sacred Heart Primary School. Log in with Google
- eBooks can be searched for and read straight from Sora or from Oliver and Orbit.
